CONTENT AT A GLANCE
One Saturday afternoon, I had the chance to stroll through Toril Poblacion. The annual fiesta celebration was fast approaching, so it was no surprise that the atmosphere was lively and vibrant, with many items for sale and plenty of food to try! I strolled along the lines of pop-up stores selling ukay-ukay and tried hopping from one food stall to another for my gastronomic experience. I ended my tour by visiting the newly opened Toril Public Park across from the Toril District Hall.
I could barely notice the beauty of the gated park from the outside; a long line of pop-up stores partially blocked it. However, the moment I entered the gate, I was surprised by the aesthetics – it was designed for its purpose, so to speak, with beautiful landscape designs.
The center pavement
I noticed upon entering the park the open space at the center. The brick design of the pavement was refreshing; it reminds me of a bricked square in front of the facade of a temple we see in movies. On either side of this vast open space were long concrete plant boxes. It also provided enough space for visitors who wanted to sit.
As I moved along paved pathways, I could not help but notice lines of grown-up trees. I thought they were carefully selected by whoever did the landscaping. Those trees were so beautiful; the canopies provided relief from that hot early afternoon sun. Plenty of park-goers were having a lazy time under these trees. Indeed, a truly magnificent site to behold.
It was also worth noting that the park provides basic comfort necessities, including restrooms inside the park. (If you visit the place, you will not worry about relieving yourself because they have restrooms inside.)
As I moved on to the other side of the park, I was delighted that there were more features to enjoy. (Those who bring their kids to this park would smile in great delight knowing that there’s a play area installed for little park-goers.)
Missing amenities
One thing I noticed was missing – the park does not have a water fountain. I thought it would complement the round pavement on the right side of the park. But who knows? They might be adding that feature soon. It would become more beautiful!
It would also be a great feature if they installed a drinking fountain or two inside. (Come on, park designers, drinking water is a basic necessity.)
On park use
And, as I have said, it’s a newly opened park, so I thought they have yet to provide rules for park use. There were people playing badminton and volleyball inside. Of course, I could only guess if such activities would be allowed inside later.
Toril Public Park is huge. While I do not have the data about its exact total area, I could say its size is comparable to that of Magsaysay Park or People’s Park. It is relaxing as it is aesthetically pleasing.
People from Toril and other places should try visiting the place.
That’s all for this blog, folks. Thanks for reading!
Some snapshots
But before you go, look at some snapshots I took from the park.
