CONTENT AT A GLANCE
For a coffee lover like me, a day would not be complete without sipping a cup of coffee; it has become part of my routine. So, every time a new coffee shop pops up, it delights me – usually, I find myself uttering phrases like, “I can’t wait to try this one…” and, “mura’g lami lagi magkape diha…“(It seems like a great place to have a cup of coffee.)
Anyway – let’s dive into the topic – the purpose of this blog post, Cafe Basilico.
Cafe Basilico is more than a coffee shop; it’s an Italian cafe and restaurant, offering great selections of delectable meals.
It is conveniently located in Crossing Bayabas, Toril, Davao City. If you come from City Proper (downtown area), take a ride to Toril. Then, when you reach Crossing Bayabas (the main intersection in Toril), the next thing to do is take a right turn. After that, have an approximately 100-meter walk to reach this humble, unassuming cafe. It is just across the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Cafe Basilico is not a newly opened coffee shop; it has been there for about a year now – if I am not mistaken. However, I was able to try it just recently – two times. The second time was very recently (less than a week ago from this posting). As with the first, the second visit was not like a special event or a celebration; we just decided to go there after a day hike to the Viper Peak in Brgy. Bato. We thought we deserved a relaxing coffee treat after an exhausting hike.
So, as I said, it was just a simple lunch, so we only ordered these items: Chicken Diavolo, Chicken Marsala, a cup of hot caramel, and cappuccino.

Interior Ambiance
While waiting for our order, I took the chance to roam around to take some snapshots. Here are some photographs of the interior:
What I love about the cafe:
- The food is undeniably good (I can speak, at least, for the menu items I ordered) at reasonable prices
- Just like some good coffee shops I have tried in Davao, this cafe has a cozy, relaxing interior ambiance (it probably will make you stay a bit longer when you visit the place)
- Clean (even their restroom was spotless)
- Of course, as expected, the staff were accommodating and courteous; the person assigned at the door accompanied us with his umbrella while we were exiting the place – such a good gesture.
A few things to note:
- This cafe tends to have plenty of customers, especially during weekends; you can expect a full-house space. If that is the case, approach the staff; they will find ways to accommodate you.
- It is also worth noting that the place has a limited parking space; you can expect it to be fully parked when you arrive there. However, you can still find a space to park your car nearby.
My rating
If I were to rate this cafe based on these criteria: food, place, and service, I would gladly give 8.5 out of 10, with 10 being the highest.
So, if you are a coffee lover like me and you are visiting Toril for business or leisure, you might want to try Cafe Basilico if you need a break and want to sip a cup of coffee or two.
